Challenge

  • Intricate work order/notification creation process
    • Cause: The maintenance staff had to sail through multiple screens to create work orders and notifications. Also because of multiple screen navigation, it was difficult for them to confirm time and issue goods.
    • Effect: This complicated process led to personnel taking more time to complete a task resulting in low productivity.
  • Needless data entry caused inefficiency
    • Cause: Maintenance personnel had to navigate through various tabs within the same or different transactions to get information regarding the plant, functional location, and storage location.
    • Effect: Additional steps and unnecessary navigation made the process laborious and confusing for maintenance personnel.
  • Error-prone transferring of data from paper to SAP
    • Cause: Technicians had to fill the paper-based Asset Care form for all the scheduled routine inspections. The Asset Care form contained a list of questions specific to equipment and compliance checks, which needed to be answered. This data was then transferred into their SAP system manually.
    • Effect: Manually transferring data into the SAP system from the sheet of paper impacted data integrity and caused costly error correction leading to drops in operational efficiency.
  • Complex training and low user acceptance rate for SAP
    • Cause: The present system was too intricate and frustrating for their users because of cluttered screens. Users often missed the data entries and entered the wrong information.

  • Liquid UI Offline eliminated paper-based manual entries for SAP Plant Maintenance personnel.
  • By enabling portable access to SAP PM tasks on Handheld Scanguns, the personnel can now easily generate work orders, create notifications, search equipment details, and more.
  • Liquid UI Offline digitalized the Asset Form and added the dynamic functionality for equipment and compliance checks questionnaire. Now, the Asset Care Process is intuitive, and the technician´s answer determines the next screen content and flow.
  • This change from a paper-based process to digitization reduced the equipment downtime and increased the rate of production.
  • With Liquid UI Offline, users have seamless access to PM information where they can create or edit work orders, view work order details, see historical order data, and manage notifications – all in offline mode.
  • While performing a repair, users can now get their equipment details by just scanning the barcode, any changes by technicians are now tracked with a timestamp for the compliance check.
  • With Liquid UI Offline, the users can now readily gather information from anywhere in the plant with or without network connectivity.
  • The offline data view enables Diageo employees to promptly make well-informed decisions even when they are not connected to their SAP system.
